Tenders for 1,250 PSVs awarded to 44 operators for next year’s games.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has advanced its plans for transporting athletes, team officials, technical officials and the media during the London 2012 Games, with confirmation of its coach and bus providers.

Following a competitive tender process, LOCOG has appointed 44 contractors from all over the UK and Ireland who will provide over 1,250 coaches and buses together with drivers which will be used at all London 2012 venues across the UK. Companies will provide from two to over 500 buses or coaches.

LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend says: “This is the culmination of a significant and complex piece of procurement work and we had a very competitive tender process.

“What we’ve ended up with are companies from every nation and region providing some buses or coaches – from the traditional family-owned small companies to the large national bus firms – all coming together to help us make London 2012 as successful as possible.”

LOCOG will now be working throughout 2011 with its appointed operators to develop and confirm the operational plans for the summer of 2012.

The companies providing coaches and buses are: Abellio (of London & Surrey), Allenby Coach Hire (Surrey), Anderson Travel (London), Arriva, Bakers Coaches (Staffordshire), Barnes Coaches (Wiltshire), Baynes Travel (Northumberland), Bluebird Coaches (Dorset), Bullocks Coaches (Cheshire), Carmel Coaches (Devon), Centaur Overland Travel (Kent), City Circle UK (Edinburgh), Country Lion (Northamptonshire), Cozy Travel (Letchworth), GoAhead Group, Golden Boy Coaches (Hertfordshire), Hardings International Coaches (Worcestershire), Heyfordian Travel (Oxfordshire), Holmeswood Coaches (Lancashire), Howard Snaith (Northumberland), Impact Group (London), Johnsons Coach and Bus Travel (Warwickshire), London Borough of Redbridge (London), Logan’s Executive Travel (Co.
